Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
We collect as little as we can, we only use it to help you, and we never sell it. This page explains what we keep and for how long.
Who we are
FoxShade Fix It is a small tech-help business run by one person in Pennsylvania, USA. In this policy, "we" and "us" means FoxShade Fix It. You can reach us by email at [email protected] or by phone at (725) 289-2506. We don't have a mailing address yet, so please contact us by email.
What we collect and why
When you ask us to contact you. The contact form asks for your name, how to reach you (phone number or email), your problem, and a good time to reach you. We use this only to answer your request. We also store a scrambled code made from your internet address (a "salted hash"). It can't be turned back into your address. We use it only to stop spam and abuse.
When you chat with Fix It Fox. Fix It Fox is an automated AI helper. We save what you type, its answers, the device and problem you picked, and the same scrambled internet-address code. We read saved chats to fix mistakes and make the helper better, and to see what you already tried if you ask a real person for help. Please don't type passwords, codes or personal details into the chat.
When you vote on an answer. If you press 👍 or 👎 on an answer, we save the vote with a random chat number and the scrambled internet-address code. We use the votes to find answers that need fixing.
When you send feedback. The Feedback page saves your message for up to a year so we can improve the website. We don't ask for your name or email. We keep the same scrambled internet-address code, only to stop spam and abuse.
Settings saved in your own browser. Your theme (dark or light), text size, an unsent message and your current chat are saved only in your browser (using "local storage" and "session storage"). They are not sent to us as settings. You can clear them by clearing your browser's site data.
Owner sign-in. The owner's admin page uses one sign-in cookie. It is only for the owner. Visitors don't get any cookies from us.
We do not use ads, trackers, analytics tools or social media pixels. We do not sell or share your information for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Contact requests and the owner's notes about them are deleted automatically about 6 months after you send them.
- Chats are deleted automatically after 30 days. Two exceptions: the owner may keep a chat longer to improve the helper, and a chat linked to a request we are still working on is kept until that request is finished.
- Feedback messages are deleted automatically 1 year after you send them.
- Votes (👍/👎) are kept as counts that don't include your name or contact details.
- Browser settings stay on your device until you clear them. Your current chat and unsent message are cleared when you close the browser tab.
Who else receives it
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing.
- The AI. Fix It Fox runs on the owner's own computer, so your chat is not sent to an AI company. If we ever switch to Anthropic's Claude service, your chat text would be sent to Anthropic to write the answers, and we will update this page first.
- Look-ups. To answer some questions, Fix It Fox may send a few search words (for example "iPhone 12 battery") to Wikipedia, endoflife.date (which tracks when devices stop getting updates) and web search engines. Web searches go through a search tool that runs on the owner's computer. These look-ups don't include your name or contact details. Fix It Fox may also open official help pages (like Apple's or Microsoft's) to read them.
- Donations. If you choose to donate, the payment is handled by our payment partner (such as Stripe) under its own privacy policy. The partner sends us your name, email and address for our records, but we never see or receive your card number.
- When the law requires it. We may share information if a valid legal request makes us, or to protect someone's safety.
Children under 13
Our website is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you. If you are a parent and think your child sent us information, email us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we have about you and send you a copy,
- fix information that is wrong, or
- delete your information.
Email us at [email protected]. We may ask a question to make sure the request comes from you. We will answer within 45 days. We will never treat you differently for asking.
How we protect it
Your information is stored on the owner's own computer, not on a big shared service. Only the owner can see it, behind a password. We never store your internet address itself. No system is perfectly safe, but we work to keep yours safe and keep as little as we can.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. We don't track you across websites at all, so we treat every visitor the same way whether or not the signal is on.
If something goes wrong
If someone gets into your personal information without permission, we will tell you as Pennsylvania law requires, without unreasonable delay, by email, phone or text.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If the change is big, we will also put a notice on the website.
