FoxShade Fix It doesn't write the results you see. Each one is a title and a short excerpt from another website, with a link to the original. Here is where they come from. Thank you to every person who wrote them.

Stack Exchange (answer archive and live search)

Questions from Super User, Ask Ubuntu, Ask Different (Apple), Android Enthusiasts, Arqade, Raspberry Pi, Photography, Information Security, Web Applications, Hardware and Software Recommendations. Our searchable index (titles and the start of each question) was built from the Stack Exchange data dump published on the Internet Archive, downloaded October 1, 2026; live results come from the Stack Exchange API. This content is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 by its authors. We shortened it to an excerpt; every result links to the original question, where the authors are named. We don't copy full answers onto this site.

Live search sources

  • iFixit repair guides and answers, via the iFixit API. Content CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 by iFixit and its authors.
  • Device and software forums run on Discourse (Framework, Level1Techs, Ubuntu, KDE, Fedora, GNOME, EndeavourOS, Fairphone, /e/OS, F-Droid, Home Assistant, OctoPrint, Pi-hole, Privacy Guides, pixls.us), using each forum's public search. Posts belong to their authors.
  • GitHub issues, via the GitHub REST API.
  • Hacker News, via the HN Search API by Algolia.
  • Lemmy posts from lemmy.world and the communities it follows.
  • Marginalia Search, an independent search engine for the small web, via its public API. Results CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
  • Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0) and MDN Web Docs (CC BY-SA 2.5).
  • Apple Support (support.apple.com) and Microsoft Learn (learn.microsoft.com): official documentation. We keep an index of Apple Support page titles (from Apple's public sitemap and guide contents) and use Microsoft Learn's public search. Answers quote short passages from these pages with a link; the text belongs to Apple and Microsoft.
  • NIST National Vulnerability Database for security questions, via the NVD API (public domain). This product uses data from the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.
  • Brave Search web results (manufacturer support pages, community forums such as Reddit and Apple Community, blogs), via the Brave Search API. Results are shown as found, never stored, and marked “via Brave Search”.
  • Shodan CVEDB for security questions, via cvedb.shodan.io (free for non-commercial use).
  • YouTube, only when video results are turned on, via YouTube API Services (see our privacy policy).
