Phone got wet or dropped in water
Acting calmly in the first few minutes gives your phone the best chance, so let's go step by step.
Be careful: Don't put it in rice, use a hair dryer, an oven or radiator, or poke anything into the holes. If it gets hot, swells, smokes or smells of burning, move away from it and get in-person help.
What to do
Step 1: Take the phone out of the water right away and unplug it if it's charging.
Step 2: Turn the phone off if it's still on, and don't keep pressing buttons to test it.
Step 3: Take off the case.
Step 4: Dry the outside gently with a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel.
Step 5: Hold it with the charging hole facing down and tap it gently against your palm to let water drip out.
Step 6: Leave it in a dry place with some air flow, like near a fan on its cool setting, for at least 24 hours.
Step 7: Don't charge it until it's completely dry. If it got salt water, a sugary drink or it stays dead, take it to a repair shop as soon as you can.
Still stuck? If it won't turn on after drying, or acts strangely, take it to the maker's store or a trusted repair shop soon, and ask them to save your photos if you need them.
